Ditchweed is a joyful, highly experimental 1-of-1 original that transforms a common countryside sighting into a celebration of color and texture. Born out of an intense "production week" studio challenge to complete eight paintings in seven days, this piece captures the spontaneous energy of pure creative play. Intentionally composed on a unique 10-inch round canvas disk, the artwork breaks away from traditional square formats to emphasize organic rhythm.
The painting features a rich, marbled background achieved through a complex, intuitive mix of spray paint, isopropyl alcohol, and acrylic washes—tactilely dabbed and lifted with a napkin to reveal delicate, glowing undertones. At the center sits a beautifully detailed, country-lane wildflower blossom, built up with expressive oil layers in shades of amethyst, lavender, and rich leaf greens. Ditchweed was proudly volunteered and donated to a local Delavan housing organization for women and children in need, channeling the raw momentum of the studio directly into community uplift.
